Even though I love BL, after reading enough of it, it becomes uncommon to find one that doesn’t feel somewhat formulaic. Shoowa’s Iberiko Buta to Koi to Tsubaki is a refreshingly original and hilarious read. Scans of chapter 1 and 2 (the first arc) are available on Fickle Pickle scan’s website. You’ve got to sign up to download them, but it’s fast and simple.
I’ve been looking forward to this release for a while. When I read Koi to Zaiaku, I felt like this mangaka had a lot of potential, but I wanted more. The characters in Sumidagawa Shinjuu are interesting and feel authentic. The stories are pretty great, too—I especially like the second story and the title story. She manages to pull off an incest theme without that creepy incest feeling, and the title story has some interesting character development and a chapter given from a (complex, non-cliched) female character’s point of view.
